Castleton Cup Pond Hockey tournament

The guys remain hopeful Mother Nature cooperates for the tournament tomorrow. Here are the rules & schedule for the tournament. Don’t forget Fat Pappy’s will be open tomorrow for you to get your fix.

A Message from Jeff: Thank you for putting a team into this year’s tournament. Every attempt had been made to accommodate as teams many as possible, we are looking at a 25-team schedule. Insuring each team receives their guaranteed 3 games while spreading the time out fairly has proven to be a task itself. Remember this is a fun tournament. The goal is to raise funds to support the programs that the Castleton Sports Club provides (turn on the lights for the kids, heat the change room in the winter, help the club operate programs in the summer and to maintain the property).   Although the ice can be used at anytime with no cost for the kids, it is very expensive to operate. Enjoy your day.

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • Any aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Arrive 20-30 mins before your first game to register at the pump house so we know you are there. A few copies of the tournament rules & schedule will be at the registration desk.
  • The Castleton Cup will be there, have your players sign it for memories and team photos.
  • Get to the ice pad your to be playing at, get your skates on and be ready for the game.
  • If you have jerseys that all match even better.
  • Pond hockey is about speed, the faster the puck moves the better the chances of scoring. If the puck is gone in the snow, tell your players to get to the center ice as fast as possible there will be a puck waiting for them from the ice official.
  • When your game is to begin, it begins exactly at your scheduled time.
  • When the game ends, leave the ice as fast as possible as the next game will begin immediately.
  • The ice resurfacer will be moving from surface to surface and to the pump house for water to insure the ice remains in good condition. Stay back and away from the resurfacer and allow it to move; if you can’t see the driver, he can’t see you
