The rink is closed and a message from icemaker Jeff from last night:
“I think maybe tonight was the last time to flood the rink and light a fire for moms watching their wee ones skate. Ole Tom and I cleared everything off the ball field to end the season for rink two and crokicurl. It’s been a good season for out door rinks. Not going to lie it’s a lot of work to keep the rinks in Castleton in the condition they are. Lots of laughs behind the scenes with current and new volunteers this year. In the end there is a ton of love that goes into the sports club. It’s operated by volunteers who either fundraise or put their own money together to provide for the kids and community. Never take what happens at the sports fields for granted. By the numbers we laid down 270,000 gals of water, burnt 1 cord of wood, countless bottles of propane for the ice resurfacer, porta potty, hydro for heat and lights this winter it all costs money. 100% of money that’s raised or donated goes straight to programs that the club operates.”
