37th Annual Children’s Fishing Derby

Tomorrow marks the start of the Annual Children’s Fishing Derby. This event was the initiated by the Warkworth Service Club in 1988, becoming a generational tradition. We often hear from the adults “I came here as a kid” making it our honour to keep this event running. Join us Sat. May 3 and/or Sun. May 4 from 8-3. Please respect this private property. Look for the yellow signs to guide you

  1. Cash only event 
  2. Gates open at 7:30. No lines in the water until after the whistle blows at 8:00
  3. There is no pre-registration. You will register your children 14 and under at the gate, $10 for each child. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. ONLY children may fish. One pole per child
  4. Maximum catch limit of 2 fish. (Participants may continue to fish if they pay an additional $10)
  5. All caught fish must be kept.  No catch and release.
  6. We don’t have tackle for use, you will need to bring your own. We will be selling worms, live bait is prohibited.
  7. Only single hooks allowed; multiple hook lures prohibited
  8. Shore fishing only.
  9. We don’t have people dedicated to fishing instruction but someone may be available to offer assistance.
  10. Prizes will be awarded to the largest fish caught each day, be sure to have your catch weighed at the Fishing Hut.
  11. We will have the BBQ on and there will be a raffle table
  12. Zero tolerance for alcohol and cannabis use on the property.
