COVID has certainly changed the way we are able to do things. We are trying to gather information from our soccer families to see if there is interest in returning to play as well as a willingness to participate with modifications to the expectations and rules of play as required by Soccer Canada/Ontario Soccer. It is imperative that you respond to the questions below directly to our soccer coordinator at [email protected] failure to do so will force us to cancel soccer once again this year.
1. If you have a Timbit child (U6 and U4 age groups), would you still sign them up if they were NOT having scrimmages (games) and only participating in skills development and training? This would be lead by a coach; however, one parent would be required to be on the field to act as a partner to their child in activities and help keep your child 2m from other children.
2. Due to COVID protocols, coaches will be expected to sanitize equipment after use and keep track of who attends each session. Coaches are also required to take the Respect in Sport course at their own cost ($30 , good for 4 seasons) or be able to show proof that they have taken it for another coaching position(e.g. Hockey). Would you be willing to take on a coaching position?
3. Do you know someone age 12+ who would be interested in refereeing this season?
4. Soccer is going to look different this year for all age groups. For all age groups above Timbit, there will be no travel and we are limited to how many players can be on the field and how many spectators are allowed as well as other protocols that must be followed. Sessions will most likely be 20 minutes practice followed by a 20-minute scrimmage. How likely are you to register your child for soccer this year?
Fee structure is still being determined and will be provided ASAP as we await direction from our governing bodies.
