Ice at the Fields

It will soon be time to start creating the rink at the fields.  Ideally 5-10 volunteers are needed to set up and help maintain the rink.  Duties as volunteers would include but not be limited to operating and maintenance of the snow blower, the ice resurfacer, the water pump and hoses used during the day to day maintenance of the outdoor rink.   The work can be performed at various hours of the day as the volunteer’s schedule permits but must not interfere with the use of the rink.  Work be done in potentially harsh winter weather conditions (snowing and extreme cold), therefore appropriate cold weather clothing is a must.  Training will be required to ensure the safety of volunteers and the proper care of necessary equipment.

The club is exploring the possibility of offering coached (individuals who possess an Ontario Minor Hockey Association coach certificate) practices for youth in the community who might not have the opportunity to participate in organized minor hockey or hockey programs. A dedicated time will be set aside for potential players to be given or offered coaching. If you are interested in providing this as a community service and have prior hockey coaching experience, this is a great chance for you to volunteer. If you require volunteer hours this position can be used to offset the volunteer requirements of registering your child in either soccer or baseball in the 2016 season.
