After Thursday evening’s AGM the Club now has a full executive. Many positions remain held by members from the past year with the addition of Kevin McComb, who will complete the remaining year of Christine Westbrook’s term as director. Christine will remain on the executive as the Bingo Coordinator.
1) After elections a discussion ensued regarding the possibility of adding a Youth Advisory Committee to the Sports Club. We have decided to accept applications to appoint four (4) members to a Youth Advisory Committee as part of the Sports Club. We will appoint two (2) high school students… and two (2) elementary school students to this committee, preferably one (1) male and one (1) female from each student body. If you or you know someone who would like to represent the youth of the area at Sports Club meetings please submit a brief letter to any Sports Club member explaining why you would like to become involved. The seats would be for one (1) year, where least one (1) member from each of the elementary and secondary student appointees must attend monthly meetings and report any initiatives or concerns to the club. If the selected representatives need volunteer hours, we will sign off on the necessary document.
2) Castleton has its baseball Cardinals but the soccer teams are just Castleton. We need to have a name for our soccer teams. Post your suggestions here or email your suggestions to Cathy-Rose Patterson at [email protected]
3) Hiring for summer jobs at the sports fields will begin soon. The Club normally has funding for 5 student workers, however all positions may not be filled. Workers MUST be available to work evenings Monday – Thursday (usually until about 8:00 p.m.), Sunday evenings and occasionally on Saturdays if the fields are booked for an event. Work hours are influenced by the use of the fields. All candidates must be 16 years of age. Please submit resumes to Brandy McCoy at [email protected]
4) The rink is ready to be enjoyed and in the interest of having a safer environment for those who would just like to skate, time has been allocated as indicated below.
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 4:00
