Canada 150 celebrations are nearly here. We are in need of a few volunteers to help throughout the afternoon and evening in a variety of ways. Please let Kevin know if you can help asap. The schedule of events at the fields are BBQ – 12-4, Ball tournament 12-4, Ukulele Presentation 3:30, Car rally finish 4:45; Presentations for baseball tournament and car rally 5:00, Improv and review 7:30- 8:30, Closing ceremonies 8:30 and fireworks at dusk. All times are approximate but we will try to keep as close as possible to the schedule. Volunteers are needed for upcoming bingos. Bingos support all activities the Sports Club run. The Club is not supported by the municipality and all programs and work are undertaken by a dedicated group of volunteers.

We are in need of 2 part time canteen workers. The position will require food handling, cash management and cleaning. Applicants must be 16 years of age who are willing and able to work independently. The position is minimum wage and applicants must be available evenings and a few Saturdays through the summer. If you haven’t registered your child to play ball or soccer get it done asap, deadline is April 27. There are 2 age groups in soccer that need a few more players to fill out teams. The same is true for baseball. ALL TEAMS WILL BE FINALIZED MAY 1. You will not be able to register after that date.

The Sports Club is accepting applications for a maintenance position. The position will include but not be limited to, grass cutting, lining of soccer fields and baseball diamonds and general cleanup of the facility. This is minimum wage, a part time position and can include evenings and some weekends. Candidates must be self motivated and be able to work unsupervised. A driver’s license would be an asset. All training provided. This is a perfect job for a retired person, or a student who would like a few additional hours for work a week.
Umpires are needed to support the minor ball program. This is a paid position but requires the successful completion of an umpire clinic to held April 9. Applicants must be available evenings from Monday to Thursday for about 2 hours. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Wed. March 22 from 6:30 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. is the second registration date for registering your child for soccer or baseball in Castleton. Registration will take place at the Castleton Town Hall. Please note that fees include the jersey (which you will keep at season end) and a volunteer fee for which you can receive a voucher if you complete 8 hours of volunteer time. All fees are indicated on the registration forms. Please print out the forms and bring the completed forms to one of the dates listed above to registration your child. It has been brought to my attention that there is an error on the soccer registration form. If you have already printed the form please note the fee for U14 should be $135 not $155 as indicated. My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will be checking registrations to see if anyone has already registered in this age group and issue a refund.
I have also received questions regarding scheduling. The link below will take you to a tentative schedule for baseball and soccer. Please be aware that these times are subject to change and do not guarantee sufficient player numbers to field a team. Soccer practice times will be the discretion of the team’s soccer coach.
